"The pleasure of meeting the mind at the edge of its aptitude."
The Idea!
The thought behind the idea is two-fold.
Firstly, the fruit itself.
The peel, the slices, the thread-like structures and the thin skin, and then comes the slivers and splinters.
Similarly, we ‘beings’, somewhere somehow signify that piece of orange, at an individual level, and the species as a whole. Our minds are made up of multiple layers each having its own skin and structure, our peel of thoughts and our strings of connection.
Secondly, we do like the Orange fruit.
''The partially peeled pink orange''
Have you figured out the 'what and why' of our logo yet?
Here's what it means :
The logo, on the top left side, represents a slice of orange, whereas the extensions on the bottom right corner are the hands of an octopus.
Why an Octopus?
They are creatures that display incredible flexibility, and psychic ability. The octopus symbolizes our ability to overcome challenging situations with creativity and intelligence.
The Octopus reminds us to express ourselves even if our instincts say otherwise, leading us to imagine without limits as well as unconditional love.
It is a master of camouflage, adapting to any situation. As an octopus, we are curious and constantly exploring our talents as much as being extremely sensitive and strongly connected to our inner-self.
They’re often seen as symbols of secrets, and hidden knowledge. As an octopus, we may want to explore the unseen, magical and mystical side of life.
"Brain Pickings" is a vivid metaphor for intellectual curiosity, capturing the intricate process of extracting, examining, and refining thoughts from the depths of the human mind.
In psychology, it reflects the delicate exploration of cognition and memory, while in the Theory of Knowledge (TOK), it symbolizes the careful deconstruction of knowledge and the interrogation of its origins and validity.
In literature and language, it highlights the artful selection of ideas and words to convey meaning with precision. This image, with its nuanced use of chopsticks as a tool for engaging with the mind.
"Brain Pickings" thus serves as a powerful visual for those who seek to engage deeply with the complex interplay of ideas, knowledge, and language.
